reported a
Yellow driver who died Tuesday when his rig tumbled off the
northbound Interstate 471 exit ramp to Fort Washington Way was
driving too fast in the rain. |
| The
report stated Charles D. Osborne, 53, of Bagdad, Ky., was pulling two
trailers about 2:35 a.m. on the curved, elevated ramp when his
rig fell 25 to 30 feet to Monastery Street. |
| Traffic was snarled for hours. While 285 accidents have
occurred on the Ohio stretch of I-471 from 2001 through March of
this year, "we've never had an entire truck go over,"
said Police Spec. Jerry Enneking. |
| Mike Hoffman, 57, of Southgate, says the I-471 ramp is
dangerous. |
| "People come across the bridge dueling to get to the
first lane. I'm surprised more people don't go over,"
Hoffman said. |
| The I-471 ramp was blocked for several hours while it was
inspected for damage. It was reopened in time for morning
rush-hour traffic. |
| Monastery Street between Third Street and Baum Street was
closed most of the day. |
