Understanding The Chinese Logistics Fad
The Trends of  Global Transportation
From the RD News Desk
With a global economy emerging whether you like it or not, along with it comes global shipping and the need for support and  logistics.
UPS, FedEx and now Yellow Roadway Corporation Worldwide (YRCW) is partnering up with Chinese logistics companies in order to get their foot in the door overseas.
YRCW, and Shanghai Jin Jiang International Industrial Investment Co., Ltd. ("Jin Jiang Investment") finalized the formation of a China-based transportation joint venture on September 1, 2005. Under the terms of the joint venture, both YRCW and Jin Jiang Investment own 50% of JHJ International Transportation Co., Ltd. ("JHJ"), the freight forwarding subsidiary of Jin Jiang Investment.
Pudong Container Logistics Co in Shanghai, China
Based in Shanghai, JHJ is the second largest air freight forwarder in China. JHJ also offers ocean freight forwarding and logistics services through a strong domestic network of 25 locations, including 5 customs warehouses adjacent to the Shanghai Pudong International Airport.
Recently Road Drivers Weekly News commissioned a Chinese photographer in Shanghai to seek out Jin Jiang in order to provide a photo-journalist's outlook of the vast logistics services at some of the ports in China. Click on the thumbnails below to enlarge the photos...

The logistics company is located at the suburbia of northeast Shanghai and about 50-60 kilometers from Shanghai central. The local is known as the famous free trade district, “Shanghai Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone”. There are many container warehouses and famous logistics companies, such as ‘P&O Nedlloyd’, located in this district.
I arrived about 12 o’clock, and took the first picture. I didn’t want to be anxious to take the pictures around the front-gate, so I just walked around the facility and took pictures as I strolled. The facility is very wide, it took about one and a half hours to finish.
In thumbnail number four, a guidepost shows the department of the company, some of them are even self-governed, rather than communist party controlled.
Unmarked vehicle As you can see in the photo to the left, unexpectedly, all of the pictures taken are without any logo about the company on the containers or on the container trucks. I don’t know why, but it’s true.
