I-70 Bridge Destroyed By Backhoe
A four-mile section of eastbound Interstate 70 remained closed to traffic, two days after an overpass was destroyed by a piece of construction equipment being hauled on a heavy haul trailer that went under it.
The tracked backhoe excavator being transported, struck the overpass just before 6 p.m. Monday. The boom extended and ripped through the concrete deck of the bridge. Surprisingly, the equipment was properly secured on the trailer and did not come off during impact of the bridge. Check out the photos below. Click on the thumbnails to enlarge the photos.
