02.19.2006 - Waldon Duff, 66 of Franklin, Indiana, was killed February 6th, 2006 on Interstate 65 in Boone County Indiana. Mr. Duff was a Yellow Transportation Road Driver.
The report states his semi plowed into a tanker truck that had jack-knifed when it's driver tried to avoid colliding with a car merging onto southbound I-65 early Monday morning. Witnesses reported that the windows of the car merging onto the interstate was covered by frost, which obstructed the view of the driver.
The driver of the tanker, David P. Meredith, 52, of Crete, ILL. was not injured. Police said the driver of the car that cut off Meredith left the scene of the accident.
Police later arrested Dawn Nikki Shue, 34 of Lebannon at her place of work. She was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, which is a felony offense and a possible penalty of 8 years imprisonment and a $10,000.00 fine.
Waldon Duff, was also known as "Duffy" to his Teamster friends. He was scheduled for retirement.
