Red Dirt Music Festival to Return
Update: Oct 19th & 20th is the scheduled rain out date.
GCG Community Report
August 27th, 2007 - Chickasha - With much opposition from the Chickasha City Council and Mayor Greg Elliot, the Red Dirt Music Festival hosted by Curtis Hart at the Muscle Car Ranch is to be rescheduled within the next six weeks for rain out ticket holders and others.
The event that took place on August 16th -18th, 2007 was an official rain out, says Curtis Hart. However Stoney LaRue is coming back to honor his commitment to perform. Scheduling is being arranged and when all is confirmed, a date certain will be announced.
Even with all the headaches from the Chickasha City Council, The annual event will go on says Mr. Hart. When asked about difficulties, Curtis had a laundry list of road blocks that he said the City of Chickasha has placed before him. From excessive fines regarding last year's signage to trying to stop the event all together. Noise levels were kept at a 88 decibel level to insure to be respectful of fellow residents.
The million dollar annual event provides much revenue for the city and local business owners, and for the city council to be in such opposition is ludicrous stated Curtis.
After lunch during this years rained out event, over three thousand vehicles were counted entered the parking area in order to attend the annual festival.
The main sponsor of this year's event was Budweiser - Budlight. Curtis says that he extends his deep appreciation to his main sponsor and to Brad McClure, Attorney for American Airlines, for their solid backing without wavering when so much flack was received from the Mayor and the City Council.
Mr. Hart stated further for ticket holders to check for updates at the MuscleCarRanch.Com website or telephone 405-222-4910 for the rain out date and date certain for the rescheduled event.
In closing Mr. Hart stressed for the residents of Chickasha to remember when going to the polls, that elected officials should be held accountable for their actions. Get out and vote says Curtis!
