December 30th, 2007- If
you are Chinese, Korean, Mexican or Martian and you have entered
Oklahoma illegally, House Bill 1804 is not your friend. To
compound the difficulties for the illegal alien, the son of
HB1804 is coming to a legislative floor near you.

KOTV
Tulsa, interviewed Republican
Representative Randy Terrill yesterday and He revealed a
second phase of HB 1804.
|
|
Terrill's plans include making English the
official language of Oklahoma, strengthen the current law to give
law enforcement more power, force schools to report the number of
illegal immigrants in its district and take a closer look at
challenging the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution which
grants citizenship to anyone born in the U.S., even if their
parents are not citizens.
|
|
On December 29th, 2007, U.S. District Judge
James Payne denied a
motion that asked him to reconsider his decision to dismiss a
lawsuit challenging the new state law dealing with illegal
immigration.
|
|
The Denver-based 10th U.S. Circuit Court of
Appeals would be the opponents next step to try and gain some
reversal from their present slippery position.

On December 7th, 2007, State
lawmakers from across the country urged members of Congress to
reform immigration law to essentially mirror Oklahoma’s new law.
|
|
Pennsylvania state Rep. Daryl Metcalfe, founder
of State Legislators for Legal Immigration, led a delegation that
called on Congress to enact laws that prevent illegal aliens from
obtaining taxpayer-subsidized benefits and punish businesses that
violate the law by hiring those workers.
|
|
The group’s actions came just one day after a
handful of officials in Oklahoma – including businessmen who
admit to heavy reliance on illegal alien labor – called for
repeal of Oklahoma’s immigration reform law, originally known as
House Bill 1804.
|
|
"While businesses who exploit illegal
aliens to depress the wages of working families may not like House
Bill 1804, it’s obvious that most American citizens support the
law," said state Rep. Randy Terrill, a Moore Republican who
authored House Bill 1804. "Today’s action by State
Legislators for Legal Immigration shows we did the right thing in
Oklahoma. We can’t let the baseless complaints of unscrupulous
business owners deter us from upholding the rule of law."
|
|
Metcalfe was joined by officials from the
Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) and state
lawmakers from Arizona, Indiana, Tennessee and Colorado, according
to a news release issued by the group.
|
|
According to the group’s release, State
Legislators for Legal Immigration members have entered into a
working partnership with the Immigration Reform Law Institute (IRLI)
to create a comprehensive package of model "National Security
Begins at Home" legislative solutions that any state lawmaker
can introduce to effectively shut off all economic attractions and
incentives for illegal aliens. That model legislation is largely
based on Oklahoma’s law, Terrill noted.
|
|
The model law includes the following elements:
|
| • Requiring mandatory
employer enrollment in the federal E-Verify employee
identification program and terminating the professional
license of any employer that knowingly hires an illegal
alien.
• Barring illegal aliens from
obtaining all non-medical-emergency, taxpayer-funded
public benefits or entitlements such as welfare, in-state
college tuition or drivers’ licenses.
• Establishing mechanisms to
ensure state and local law enforcement can both verify
citizenship status and actively assist with enforcing
federal immigration law.
• Withholding all state and
federal highway funding from "sanctuary cities"
that either refuse to report or willingly assist illegal
aliens with obtaining employment, financial assistance or
taxpayer-funded public benefits.
• Revising state tax codes to
penalize non-profits or state contractors for hiring
illegal aliens.
• Enacting legislation challenging
judicial misinterpretations of the 14th Amendment allowing
"anchor babies" or children born of illegal
immigrants in the United States to automatically obtain
citizenship and receive taxpayer-funded public benefits. |
|
Including Oklahoma, lawmakers from 32 state
legislatures, or more than 60 percent of the nation, have now
signed on as members of State Legislators for Legal Immigration.
