Tough Times Don’t Last, Tough People Do

PART II
Grady County Gazette Editorial by Camille Hunt
September 27, 2007
UPDATES:
I would like to congratulate Jimmy Peek of the Grady County Sheriff’s Office. Mr. Peek was notified yesterday that his case is over now as the Court of Criminal Appeals has sided with him and his attorney, Steve Buzin. Another win for the Defense!

District Attorney, Bret Burns, sent out subpoenas to 67 people over this past week for the jury trial of Robert Cacy and Helen McMullen. According to the subpoena, the trial was suppose to occur on October 1, 2007. Mr. Burns jumped the gun a bit on this as the defense attorneys involved had not been notified by either the Judge or the District Attorney’s Office of this date for trial, not to mention that there are still several motions out there that need to be heard prior to the commencement of a jury trial.

Speaking of motions, they are now set to be heard in front of Judge McCall at the Grady County Courthouse on October 16th, 2007. One has to wonder if the DA has called any of his 67 persons and told them they are NOT needed on Monday…
